Listen to it

The content for Listen to it was created by Lisa Wagner’s Type 4 class at Art Center. The class read and studied manifesto’s from the second wave of Italian Futurism, and were particularly inspired by the work of Bruno Munari. Each student built a toy which they felt embodied these futurist ideals, then wrote about it, photographed it, illustrated it, and explored it in whatever medium necessary.

Lauren Harden and I were art directors and editors for the project, guiding the development of content, and creating and editing a final form. The form of the book hoped to embody the same values which inspired the toy making. It is a boundless book, it has no beginning, and no end; in many ways it is a toy itself.
