San Francisco Unified School District Breakfast in the Classroom
In 2014 the district began rolling out Breakfast in the Classroom in a handful of their elementaries, with the intent of having the program in all elementary schools by the following year.
I worked closely with Student Nutrition Services to create a suite of communication assets for them to use when introducing the program to principals, teachers, parents, community members and students.
During research I learned that many teachers were concerned the program was going to add complexity to their already full day. Admittedly the first couple weeks did take some extra effort to create a new routine, but afterwards most reported more advantages than challenges. Student were more attentive and less disruptive after a healthy breakfast. The look and feel is bright, bold, clean and simple to help communicate the program's benefits. My hope is the posters are so cool kids want to take them home.
